in the winter, leafless trees
stand against dismal skies the landscape is quiet and cold. Christmas
is over a New Year is on its way. The countryside has been battered by
storms, our gardens are sodden and it’s all a bit bleak. But
out there many signs of growth are peaking through so we have plenty to
be thankful for, take a wander and this will lift the gloomy thoughts
which might linger on January days.
So here is The
for 2014, within its pages descriptions and information which may be of
interest. There have been changes for Foxgrove Plants - our final
RHS Flower Show was the Gardeners' World Live last June then we closed
our gates and stopped propagating plants as we have been doing since
the mid 80’s. We exhibited at a few small shows later in the
the days of showing plants are now over. This was a decision which had
to be made as life is not a constant and a change of direction was
necessary. Growing Snowdrops will remain the important factor for the
Nursery, we shall open at this time and still deliver to customers.
Once the Snowdrop Season ends then we shall close once more until the
Due to changes of day for the RHS February Flower Show we shall not
exhibit our usual Galanthus Exhibit, which was our very first flower
show back in 1986. This is sad and would not have been so if things had
remained as they always have been, but the end of Tuesday and Wednesday
London flower shows will be the end of an era. But that is the way of
things, never mind life goes on in a different way.
As usual our annual 'Snowdrop
will be held this year on 15th February 2014. On this day visitors are
able to view the Snowdrop Collection within the Garden, see examples of
Snowdrops in a pot & photograph exhibition, meet & talk
Snowdrop Gardeners, enjoy a welcome cup of tea or mug of St.
Soup and buy a Snowdrop or two! So, as we shall not see
in London, call down to us on 15th February instead. The proceeds will
go to our local church, St. Michael & All Angels,
will be many Snowdrop occasions such as ‘Walks’ and
throughout the country so see what is on in your local area.
